Master of Arts in Communication Disorders

Program Overview

Are you ready to take your education to the next level to begin a career in Communication Disorders? Do that here.

The Communication Disorder Program is a nationally-accredited program where graduates are sought after by employers. Graduates of the program will pass the national Praxis exam, qualify for state licensure, meet ASHA certification requirements, and find employment opportunities in either educational or medical settings.

Each year, we receive over 100 applications and only 18 students are accepted to the program. Students will receive comprehensive coursework, a variety of clinical opportunities, and research experiences. Scholarships and graduate assistantships are available for both first- and second-year graduate students.

What You’ll Do?

This degree prepares you for a career as a speech-language pathologist, with an emphasis on obtaining licensure in Missouri and a Certification of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language-Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). Students seeking licensure in a state other than Missouri are encouraged to work with the graduate advisors to ensure that all pre-requisites for licensure. Why are graduates so successful? Because during the program, they:

  • Engage in comprehensive coursework.
  • Work closely with faculty mentors who themselves are leaders in the field.
  • Gain invaluable experience through a variety of clinical opportunities and research experiences.
