Healthcare is a unique and rapidly changing industry requiring compassionate and effective leaders and decision makers. The courses you’ll take in Carroll University’s healthcare administration major will expose you to the topics, trends and challenges that are impacting health care today. When you enter the workforce as a recent graduate, you’ll bring a comprehensive understanding of these complicated policies and practices that will give you a competitive edge.
Your experiences in class will be interactive and based on real-world, problem-solving practices, providing an exceptional backdrop to engage in case-study based discussions with your peers. Many classes focus on student-led learning where you’ll work in groups to study healthcare terminology, policy and ethics, even working your way toward creating a strategic plan for a hospital and writing some of your own test questions.
Although internships are not required to earn this degree, students are strongly encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in areas that fit your interests and career goals. Many of our students participating in internships have received job offers prior to graduation.
Programs that complement the major include public health, communication, marketing, management and leadership, accounting, finance and Spanish.
Our graduates work for hospitals, nursing homes, healthcare insurance companies, medical equipment sales and other organizations in all areas including leadership, billing, quality management, patient advocacy, marketing and information technology among others.
