Criminology and Criminal Justice program will experience top-tier learning and professional opportunities to give them the edge over their peers in the professional criminal justice field.
The criminal justice program is one of the largest departments housed on campus, and continues to be a popular program, drawing students from Western New York, Southern Ontario, across the U.S., and abroad.
NU’s program educates and guides students in all areas of the fields of criminology and criminal justice, such as victim services, social services, research, and law, while helping students develop a network of connections through internship opportunities, study abroad programs, and faculty-student research. Upon completion of the program, students will be ready for careers within or outside of criminology and criminal justice, or may go on to law school or graduate school.
The department has a full-time professional-in-residence on staff, with more than 20 years of experience, to help place students in meaningful internships.
Over the past several years, students have been placed in federal, state, and local criminal justice agencies. Some students have also taken advantage of semester-long internships in Washington, D.C., or with the New York state government in Albany.
