Focus on the practical over the theoretical with the Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology in Temple University's College of Engineering. Students in this undergraduate degree program focus on hands-on, real-world technology solutions, learning how to bridge the gap between design engineers and production teams. Courses explore basic differentiation and integration in calculus and applied engineering statistics.
Professionals in this field translate plans into functional prototypes. They use technical skills and applied engineering knowledge to build, install, repair and improve high-tech equipment and technical facilities.
Temple prepares you to apply engineering principles and technical skills to analyze and find practical solutions at the point of production. Some of your coursework will include applied strength of materials, applied material technology, applied engineering statics, applied fluid mechanics and more. You can also tailor your degree to your interests in one of several tracks.
Mechanical/Manufacturing Technology Track
Mechanical or manufacturing engineering technology graduates work in teams to develop equipment, machines, processes and tools to make quality products at reasonable costs. It often involves electronics and electric power; engineering graphics, materials and mechanics; and hydraulics and pneumatics.

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.
A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):
