International Year One
International Year One allows students to take credited SF State preparation courses alongside additional academic and English language instruction. The vast range of credit courses on offer allows first-year students to both discover new fields and further explore already strong subjects.
Once International Year One is completed, students proceed directly to their second year of degree study at SF State.
Leading to Bachelor of Science in Marketing
The program provides a basic foundation of business concepts and practices, as well as specialized courses in advertising, public relations, retailing, sales, digital marketing, data analytics, branding, new product development, and marketing research. Career opportunities can be found within social media marketing, data analytics, sales and sales management, marketing research, product/brand management, retail management, advertising, merchandising, public relations, and non-profit agencies.

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.
