Program Overview

A double degree of Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws gives you an edge when applying for jobs as a community lawyer, legal officer, barrister or solicitor. When combined with a major in History, International Relations, or Social Justice, this double degree enables you to follow your passion and pursue a range of employment.
By completing a double degree, your opportunities for employment will expand and you will graduate sooner than if you were to complete two separate degrees.
The different areas of law you will explore throughout the degree include criminal law, legal conflict and resolution and legal professional practice and ethics. This is then combined with an Arts major of your choice, including Anthropology and Archaeology, Creative and Critical Writing, English Literature, Journalism, International Relations, History, and Contemporary Media.
When graduating with a double degree, you will receive a separate testamur (official certificate) for each degree.

Major: Creative Writing

The Creative Writing major provides you with an understanding of the practice of creative writing, as well as introduce you to the ideas, theories, and philosophies that inform professional writers and the writing industry.
Experiment with diverse forms, genres, and styles of writing and learn how to conceive, write, edit, and proofread your work to a publishable standard.
Learn to think critically about how, why, where and when we write about experiences, landscapes or people; how to write creatively and critically; and how to produce compelling, professional narratives in both fiction and non-fiction.
You will join a vibrant and active online and on-campus community that will connect you with local and national writing communities.

Incoming Study Abroad International Travel Grant - 2025

The University of Southern Queensland will offer grants to non-award international students commencing or continuing their enrolment in the Study Abroad program, in Trimester 1, Trimester 2 or Trimester 3 2025.

Value	Each grant will have a maximum value of AUD2000 per trimester in accordance with the duration of the award. The grant will be credited directly to the recipient's UniSQ student account as a reduction to their tuition fees. *Students are responsible for paying the remainder of the fees as per the Offer Letter. Successful recipients of the grant will be notified in their initial UniSQ Study Abroad program Offer Letter.
Eligibility	Applicants must: be an international student be commencing or continuing their studies in the Study Abroad program (fee paying) at UniSQ in Trimester 1, Trimester 2 or Trimester 3 2025 be studying on-campus be enrolled in a minimum of three study units for each trimester in accordance with the duration of the grant awarded be studying the Study Abroad program (fee paying) at UniSQ (not be studying Cross-institutional, Professional Development, Bachelor or Master courses) have not already been awarded two grants over two trimesters. Only one grant can be received per trimester of study.

International Student Support Scholarship - 2025

In 2025, the University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ) will offer scholarships to new international students studying on-campus, external or online. This scholarship is based on meeting the entry requirements for the program of study and maintaining satisfactory academic performance for duration of study at UniSQ.

International students in all areas of award programs undergraduate, postgraduate and research are welcome to apply.

Continuation of the scholarship is subject to the recipient maintaining satisfactory academic performance for duration of study at UniSQ.
Eligibility	Applicants must: be an international student be enrolled in on-campus, external or online mode be a commencing student (i.e. be new to UniSQ) in 2025 receive an offer to study within one of the study periods in 2025, in an award level program offered by the University of Southern Queensland meet the academic and English requirements for the UniSQ award program for which they apply not be in receipt of another UniSQ tuition fee scholarship not be a sponsored student, unless student is sponsored by an NGO or a government of a low or middle income country not be studying through an offshore partner.
Selection criteria	Applicants will be considered for this scholarship based on the information provided on their UniSQ international student application. UniSQ will use information from your admission application to assess your scholarship eligibility. As necessary on-campus applicants will also need to be successful in gaining the appropriate visa for the duration of their study to remain eligible.

Work Permit

PGWP

Students who have completed their studies in Australia can apply for a Post Study Work Permit or a Temporary Graduate Visa (subclass 485) to continue working in Australia post the completion of their study programs. As an international student, one can apply for the visa but not later than six months after completing your course. But to be eligible, you must meet the Australian Study Requirements, which include a minimum of 16 months of stay in Australia and a completing 92 weeks of a course registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS).
