Program Overview

Graduate with a unique set of expertise through Trent’s joint major degree pathway.

Joint major students at Trent describe the experience as the best of both worlds as you are able to take courses across the arts, sciences, and our professional programs.

Want to see more representation in our governments? Pair a Political Studies degree with Gender & Social Justice.

Want to immerse yourself in today’s technology? Couple Media Studies with Computer Systems.

With nearly limitless program combinations, you can choose a path that reflects your personal interests and career ambitions.

Popular Joint Majors

At Trent, you have the flexibility to combine nearly any two programs of your choice. To help you narrow it down, here’s a list of some of our most popular combination:

  • Child & Youth Studies & Psychology

Child & Youth Studies:

Offered exclusively at Trent’s Durham GTA campus, the Child & Youth Studies program focuses on how children learn through play and creativity. You’ll gain essential expertise in understanding the child and youth experience through exploration in emotional and cognitive development, relationships and social interaction, diversity and social justice, laws and rights, and teaching and programming.

Psychology:
Psychology is the study of human behaviour, the brain, and the mind. This program is perfect for students who wish to develop a better understanding of how and why people act, think, and feel the way they do. You’ll study the principles of psychology and a variety of specialized subjects ranging from personality, child development, and abnormal psychology in your first two years, to advanced subjects such as gender, emotions, and the psychology of evil in the latter half of your degree.
