Master of Arts in Nua-Ghaeilge

Program Overview

We promote autonomous and collaborative learning by providing a vibrant academic environment for the teaching and use of the Irish language, supported by our multi-media language learning centre and our Student Space (An Seomra Caidrimh) to encourage Irish-language usage amongst the student body. All teaching and communication is conducted through the medium of Irish and in small groups. This programme uses teaching, learning and assessment approaches such as oral, written examinations, project work, essays and presentations, and a minor dissertation on a topic relating to the individual student’s academic interests.

Tá fáilte romhat cur isteach ar an MA sa Nua-Ghaeilge, céim a bhaintear amach ar bhonn teagaisc fhoirmeálta chomh maith le tráchtas a chur i gcrích. Le linn an chúrsa seo déantar dianstaidéar ar an nGaeilge, idir theanga, chultúr agus litríocht. Is féidir le mic léinn staidéar cuimsitheach, cothrom a dhéanamh ar na réimsí seo, nó más fearr leo é, is féidir díriú go speisialta ar chúrsaí teanga agus cultúir nó ar chúrsaí litríochta. Tairgítear modúil ar raon leathan ábhair sa teanga, agus déantar cúram den litríocht chomhaimseartha agus den litríocht stairiúil araon. Tá réimse ilghnéitheach saineolais ag an bhfoireann sna cúrsaí a mhúintear ar an gclár teagaisc féin.

The MA sa Nua-Ghaeilge is for graduates of Modern Irish and graduates of cognate disciplines. It aims to promote and preserve the Irish language, literature and culture, and emphasise their importance for Irish society and European identity. It prepares students for a broad range of career paths, including education in Ireland and abroad, public service, editing and publishing, and further academic research. Students develop communicative, analytical and research skills throughout the programme. They will develop advanced linguistic skills in Irish and deepen their knowledge of Irish-language literature, culture and history.
