Program Overview

Learn how life on Earth works. Develop a mutual co-relationship with the organisms and ecosystems.

  • Become aware of how everything in this world is connected. Not only do humans and other animals, plants, fungi, and microbes interact with each other, they absolutely depend on each other. They interact with their abiotic environments such as air and water, climate and seasons, or the availability of nutrients.
  • Understand that evolution enables organisms to adapt to various environments, and to develop intricate interactions with each other ensuring their long-term survival under such conditions.
  • Environmental change is continuous and natural, but human effects have resulted in highly accelerated transformations of ecosystems due to land use, traffic and effects on climate.
  • Learn how plants, animals and microbes have adapted to their environments, how they interact with each other and how they also have an effect on their environment.  Attain this in small groups with hands-on experiences in the lab and in the field. You’ll be guided by professors who are specialists in mammals, reptiles, fish, insects, plants, microbes, wetlands, lakes, and forests.
  • Find an exciting career in ecology in consulting firms, conservation agencies, parks, wildlife management, natural resources industry, government, or education. Gain a strong foundation for further studies at the MSc and PhD level.
