Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Physics

Program Overview

Enhance your career in health with training in several cutting edge subjects.

  • Combine the study of human biology with physics and medicine. Learn the latest technology has to offer the health care field in medical imaging, radiation treatment, circulation, vision, and hearing.
  • Study with state-of-the-art equipment and highly-trained faculty. Get hands-on experience for your career or continue with graduate studies.
  • Tailor your degree to your career goals. Explore the Department of Human Kinetics, and the Department of Physics in one degree.

The program has an interdisciplinary flavor in the biological and physical sciences.

  • The four-year Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Physics, only available in English, prepares students for the workforce, to pursue professional certification in health-related professions or to continue with graduate studies.

The Biomedical Physics B.Sc. four-year program at Laurentian University is focused on the Health Sciences. The program covers areas in Biophysics (e.g. hearing and vision, biophysics of fluids) and medical physics (e.g. medical imaging, radiobiology). Besides these areas which apply physics to the Health Sciences, the students take several core physics courses, namely: modern physics, experimental physics, and electronics. The program also includes interdisciplinary courses. The students get to undertake a 4th year research project with a faculty member. These research projects lead to interactions between the Biomedical Physics students and also with students in other programs offered by the Department of Physics (M.Sc. Physics, B.Sc. Physics, B.Sc. Radiation Therapy programs).
