Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) in Sports Administration

Program Overview

SPAD is the only undergraduate business degree in sport management in all of Canada. While it is the best preparation for working in the sports industry, the SPAD degree is also valued by many non-sports organizations. Because SPAD graduates are great team players with tremendous work ethic, as well as being outgoing, engaged, and creative thinkers, banks, marketing firms, apparel companies, insurance companies, and many other companies in a variety of industries prefer to hire our grads. The knowledge and skills developed in SPAD are desirable across all industries and valued by all organizations.

Laurentian is one of three Canadian institutions that participate in the International Student Exchange Program, offering opportunities to study in one of 160 member institutions in more than 49 countries around the world.

  • Graduates holding a BBA in International Management are prepared to develop their own international companies and/or to initiate careers with exporting firms, organizations involved with various types of exchanges abroad, international organizations such as the World Bank and the U.N.
  • Gain a thorough understanding above and beyond traditional business knowledge and set yourself on a path to play a pivotal role in consulting firms, brokerage, shipping and trade firms or public institutions including government branches and agencies dealing with international trade affairs. International Management professors have extensive international experience in a variety of business and organizational/institutional/government areas, which provides students with practical, up-to-date information and knowledge, unavailable in textbbooks or on the Internet.

Program Highlights

  • You may benefit from an entire year of practical field experience through business co-op internships (within the 4 year-program, some conditions are required, otherwise there is a placement course). In case of international internships, students are required to identify the hosting firm and have the internship approved prior to making any travel arrangements. Laurentian University will not take responsibility for any expense related to co-op internships and/or placements, as they represent optional activities.
  • Travel with the International Student Exchange Program: Laurentian University is among the only three Canadian universities to give students the opportunity to study in one of 260 member institutions in more than 30 countries around the world.
  • Study in small classes allow for more interaction among students and direct access to professors at upper year levels.
