From the Egyptian pyramids, agricultural mechanisation and cars to TV, mobile phones, space shuttles and mechanical hearts, engineers and their pioneering innovations have been critical to growth and prosperity across the ages.
The flexible Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) has a strong focus on practical learning and offers you the choice of five specialisations. You’ll learn how to identify complex problems and determine how to formulate innovative solutions to today’s complex problems. And you’ll be equipped with the skills you’ll need to mix it with history’s greatest engineers – maybe you’ll have the honour of creating the next lifesaving medical device, a clean water system for remote communities in Africa, or a mobile phone app that keeps children safe.
Specialisation: Civil Engineering
Safe drinking water. Clean energy. Reduced emissions. Efficient transport. All things that make the world a safer, more functional place to live. And all things that are the domain of civil engineers, who work to elevate our standards of living and quality of life. With both technical and creative skills, civil engineers focus on the design, construction and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including roads, bridges, railways, airports buildings, dams and sewerage systems.
The Civil Engineering specialisation will equip you with the skills you’ll require to expertly design, construct and operate the infrastructure required of modern civilisation. You’ll learn how to identify complex problems and determine how to formulate innovative solutions with a focus on sustainability. And you’ll complete civil engineering-based projects using industry-recognised methods, practices and tools.
