Bachelor of Actuarial Science in Actuarial Studies

Program Overview

A Bachelor of Actuarial Science will give you technical and analytical skills. It covers financial accounting, microeconomics, macroeconomics and economic statistics.

You will learn about the foundations of finance, corporate finance, debt markets and fixed incomes securities and apply mathematical concepts to real-life scenarios.

This degree is accredited by the Actuaries Institute, and may allow you to achieve the Foundation Program of the Actuaries Institute professional qualification.

Specialisation: Actuarial Studies
This specialisation prepares you for an actuarial career. To give actuarial advice in most developed countries, you must become a Fellow of the actuarial profession. This requires gaining technical skills, general application skills, specialist knowledge, and years of work experience.

The course enables completion of the Foundation Program under the Actuaries Institute Accreditation Agreement, including actuarial statistics, risk modelling and survival analysis, actuarial mathematics, financial engineering and loss reserving, business finance, and business economics.

Upon completion of the course, you will have the opportunity to pursue a career in various international finance and business fields that specialise in life, general or health insurance, superannuation, risk management, and financial consulting.

Actuaries and actuarial graduates also work on investment operations for asset managers, brokers, and banks. Moreover, there are government-related jobs in regulatory control, workers’ compensation, and education. Other career opportunities include working with large companies on risk management and long-term strategic planning.
