Program Overview

In the current job market, employers actively seek highly skilled individuals who possess expertise in current quality assurance, problem-solving, and quality management practices. The 30-week Quality Assurance Management graduate certificate program equips individuals with the essential knowledge and hands-on experience required to excel within the applied science and technology industries. On completion of the program, graduates will recognize the role of modern quality techniques in creating value in an organization and be exceptionally well prepared for a career in quality assurance.

Learning Outcomes

The graduate has reliably demonstrated the ability to:

  • Implement and document the requirements of international quality standards (such as ISO 9001 and TS 16949)
  • Design, perform and analyze results of process improvement and product development experiments to form recommendations for implementing various process improvement tools.
  • Evaluate quality issues, opportunities, and performance metrics using current and relevant tools such as Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Root Cause Analysis
  • Lead and resolve quality assurance issues in a Canadian industrial environment using accepted quality assurance techniques including FMEA, PPAP and APQP
  • Co-ordinate implementation of Total Quality Management (TQM) process within a Canadian industrial or service organization using the concepts of Deming, Crosby and Juran
  • Use the correct device or instrument to accurately measure products and conduct a Measurement System Analysis (MSA)
  • Conduct audits for Quality and Environmental systems as part of an organization's quality engineering management processes.
  • Apply test procedures and techniques to confirm that product design requirements are met
  • Communicate technical information, including audit results where relevant, to various stakeholders to inform decision making about quality assurance processes.
  • Use reliability management to enhance quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Use relevant relationship management techniques and strategies to establish and maintain customer and supplier relationships.
