Master of Science in Computer Science (STEM)

Program Overview

Computer Science (CS) is a continuously growing and changing field. A Master of Science (MS) degree in Computer Science is applicable to a wide variety of students pursuing leadership positions in multiple STEM fields. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, overall employment in computer and information technology jobs is expected to grow 15% in the next decade, far outpacing the average of all occupations.

The format of this program will be hybrid and the Master of Science in Computer Science program can be completed in five semesters. Hybrid courses will meet on campus two to three times with dates provided.

In each of the three common semesters (Fall, Spring, and Summer), the institution offers classes for the full 15-week semester as well as in two 7.5-week terms (A and B). During each of the five semesters of the program, students will take one 3 credit hour online course that covers one 7.5-week term, one 3 credit hour hybrid course that covers the other 7.5-week semester, and a 1-credit hour field experience course that covers the full 15-week term. Thus, students will have three courses per semester for a total of 7 credit hours. The institution defines full-time status for graduate students at 6 credit hours per semester. The intended course rotation is included in the table at the end of this section.
