Work Integrated Learning (WIL)
Work-integrated learning (WIL) is an integral component of the UC Bachelor of Software Engineering course as it offers students the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience and build professional relationships through real work, or work-like placements.
To help encourage on the job learning, UC works hard to foster close industry connections with professional organisations - and as a result can offer unrivalled access to industry partners with the both the knowledge and resources to provide top level work placement positions and training opportunities.

The major in Data science provides an opportunity for the students to gain deep knowledge and specialist technical knowledge and practical skills in making sense out of the massive volumes of data generated in the digital economy. Data is nowadays a vital asset, valued by virtually every organisation in the world. The expert skills acquired in the Data Science major will provide the basis for sensible, evidence-based decision-making. The graduates will be able to know how to apply fundamental scientific principles to the analysis of large, complex data sets, with deep insight into the big data to solve complex and challenging problems. The major also provides opportunities for an intensive, extended work-integrated learning experience and the capstone project allows graduates to practice their data science skills. Students who have completed their studies in Australia can apply for a Post Study Work Permit or a Temporary Graduate Visa (subclass 485) to continue working in Australia post the completion of their study programs. As an international student, one can apply for the visa but not later than six months after completing your course. But to be eligible, you must meet the Australian Study Requirements, which include a minimum of 16 months of stay in Australia and a completing 92 weeks of a course registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS).
