Program Overview

Learn how to manipulate the tiniest particles of matter to design, develop and manufacture products that address some of the world’s biggest challenges in the BS in Nanoscale Engineering program at UAlbany. In this interdisciplinary program, you’ll study a wide range of scientific disciplines, as well as mechanical, biomedical, electrical, computer and semiconductor engineering.

Through coursework and research, you’ll gain an understanding of matter at the nanoscale to create products and processes that are lighter, smaller, faster, stronger or more efficient. Longer-lasting batteries, faster semiconductor micro-processers, higher-resolution medical devices, more effective vaccines, more resilient crops and cleaner energy are among the ways that nanoscale engineering has contributed to society.  

With a solid scientific and engineering foundation, hands-on experience in some of the most advanced technological facilities in the nation, and internships with emerging start-ups and corporate leaders, you will be equipped to secure a career designing engineering solutions.

Nanoscale Engineering for Energy & Environment Applications

You’ll study new and emerging applications of nanoscience to various areas of the energy and environmental fields, including solar cells, fuel cells, renewable and alternate energy.
