Program Overview

The Industrial Heavy Equipment Technology diploma program will teach you how to competently and safely diagnose and repair heavy machinery. The program focuses on highway and off-highway mobile equipment, as well as engine-powered stationary equipment, preparing you to work with a wide range of industrial machinery.

You will develop expertise in troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems while gaining practical experience using industry-standard tools and equipment. With a strong emphasis on emerging technologies, the program equips you to meet the evolving demands of industries such as mining, logging, trucking, agriculture, transportation, gas processing, oilfield servicing and construction.

Training will prepare you for in-demand roles using a high level of technical training to tackle the challenge of advancing technologies. Graduates of this program have opportunities for careers such as heavy equipment technicians and maintenance professionals, playing a crucial role in essential industries.

What You Will Learn

Industrial Heavy Equipment Technology is a two-year diploma program consisting of four 15-week semesters.

Studies include:

  • fluid mechanics
  • petroleum chemistry
  • fuel and hydraulic systems
  • electricity and electronics

  • leadership

Training is divided equally between theory and practical hands-on experience. Local industrial field trips give students first-hand experience of working situations.

Where is the training provided?
