Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Audio Engineering

Program Overview

Are you a budding studio engineer or technical audio specialist looking to make your way in the production and post-production industry? Our Audio Engineering course will provide you with the essential skills needed to thrive in the music industry.

Our BSc (Hons) Audio Engineering degree is one of five exciting courses in the Undergraduate Music Programme. A technical and varied course covering a range of topics including acoustics, sound recording and capture, reinforcement, and signal processing; as well as advanced sound signal theory, sound synthesis and processing, audio electronics (including making your own sound tools), multichannel and immersive mixing, mastering, re-mastering and restoration.

As part of the course, and under the guidance and mentorship of university staff and industry professionals, you’ll experience and see the huge range of areas that audio engineering can take you. Through pushing boundaries and embracing new experiences and technologies, you will produce a professional portfolio of recordings, mixes, remixes, and masters, which will benefit your future career.  You will also develop a thorough knowledge of how sound is controlled, transmitted, and received through the lens of acoustics, signal processing, technology specification and networked audio systems.

On this course you will have the opportunity to collaborate extensively with other students across the School of Creative Arts, using your skills as a developing audio engineer and connecting with peers in the fields of Music Production, Songwriting, Live Sound, and Music Composition. These shared experiences are reflective of how you will work in industry.
