Career Opportunities

The Master of Professional Engineering will provide the engineering professional practice and research skills that lead to recognition as a graduate engineer in Australia. The qualification will be recognised internationally through the Washington Accord of the International Engineering Alliance.

Further, our society is increasingly dependent on the reliable supply of energy to power the growing number of electrical and electronic devices we interact with daily. Thus, the investment in renewable energy generation has increased dramatically over recent years in Australia, which also creates a big job market in the renewable energy integration and energy storage sector. This brings opportunities to reduce carbon emissions, while also introducing technological challenges to the integrity of the existing power grid. This program will provide you with the necessary competency through a foundation in electrical and electronic knowledge, as well as develop hardware and software skills required to design, develop and engineer electrical systems, including power systems, power generation, electrical machines, renewable energy integration, system analysis and control.  

Electronic Engineering

In this major you will gain a foundation in electronics, as well as develop the hardware and software skills needed for the design, development and engineering of the electronic circuits used for many applications. You will learn about computer-based products and essential systems in our society. You will focus on the development, construction and design of electronic parts and systems - ranging from everyday items to applications for large corporations and industries.

In the last few centuries, society has made remarkable developments in terms of everyday interaction with electrical and electronic devices. We are surrounded by sophisticated ever evolving devices and gadgets that enables communication, control, movement, and comfort. electrical energy and electronic engineers play a key role in developing devices, systems, control, communication, enabling building technology and infrastructure, nationally and internationally. This program will provide you with the necessary competency through a foundation in electrical and electronic knowledge, as well as develop the hardware and software skills needed for the design, development, and engineering of electronic circuits and electrical systems. As Electrical (energy) and electronic engineers are equipped to work in all types of industries and in a very wide range of settings, the employment opportunities for graduates are endless. Furthermore, as this degree will open-up an exciting world ranging from development of small devices up to large international scale infrastructure projects, it provides an opportunity of permanent secured employment as well as making a major impact on the future of society.

Environmental Engineering

The wants and needs of a rapidly expanding, global population means it has never been more important to shape our environmental future. Environmental engineering is your pathway to protecting the natural environment and its resources by ensuring that we minimise the adverse effect we may have on it. In this major you will develop an understanding of complex environmental problems and issues, and of the challenges facing environmental sustainability. You will learn to design creative engineering solutions and manage key projects associated with environmental protection in the area of air quality, water and wastewater, and waste management. If you want an environmental career that can change the world, this is the degree for you.

Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical engineering is one of the broadest engineering disciplines including the design, analysis, manufacture and maintenance of mechanical systems. This major is built on a strong foundation of theory and reinforced by practical experience - all underpinned by our ethos of learning by doing. You will be involved in the development and use of new materials and technologies, as well as design and analysis using advanced software and computer systems.

Scholarships

International Early Acceptance Award

We are delighted to be offering 10% credit on your first trimester's tuition fees if you are commencing in Trimester 2, 2025, and accept your offer and make payment within 14 days. This award applies to undergraduate and postgraduate coursework programs (exclusions apply).

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply you must:

• Be a citizen of a country other than Australia or New Zealand.
• Be a full-time student starting in Trimester 2, 2025.
• Accept your offer to study at Griffith and make payment within 14 days of receiving your Letter of Offer. The acceptance date for this award will be outlined in your Letter of Offer.
• Be studying an undergraduate or postgraduate coursework program. See the Terms and Conditions below for excluded programs and cohorts.

Terms and Conditions

• Griffith University academic and English language entry requirements apply, including results of previous study and English language proficiency.
• The award covers 10% of undergraduate or postgraduate coursework tuition fees for the first trimester of study only, for students commencing in Trimester 2, 2025.
• Students must accept their Letter of Offer and pay their total deposit fee by the award acceptance date specified in official University communication. This award will be granted as a non-refundable credit on the student account. Should a student withdraw or cancel for any reason, the award amount is non-refundable.
• Students who defer commencement to an intake after Trimester 2, 2025 are not eligible to receive the award.
• If eligible, the Early Acceptance Award will apply in addition to other Griffith International student scholarships.
• Students must be International Fee Paying to qualify for the award.
• Excludes students enrolling in Higher Degree Research, non-award, Study Abroad Program, Masters Qualifying Program, Dental (1577, 1613, 1638, 1574, 1580, 2126, 5702, 5703, 5699), Psychology (5070, 5747, 5753), Medical (1280, 5099), Nursing and Midwifery (1162, 1354), Master of Speech Pathology (5567), Bachelor of Clinical Exercise Physiology (1604),  Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours) (1662), Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours) (1590), English language programs at the Griffith English Language Institute, programs delivered wholly online, programs only offered part time, programs delivered onshore or offshore in collaboration with a partner organisation.
• Students must not be Australia Award/Australian Government scholarship recipients, foreign government scholarship recipients or on a pathway package with Griffith University.

The Gold Coast Student Grants program offers a $1,000 grant to help new international students settle into their new life on the Gold Coast. This grant can be used for textbooks, accommodation, or everyday expenses, easing the financial pressure of starting their journey in Australia.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Hold a valid student visa (subclass 500).
• Enroll at an Experience Gold Coast Education Member Institution for at least 24 academic weeks (including packaged offers/multiple courses).
• Be a new student with a course commencement date between 1 May–30 November 2025.
• Submit all required documents as per the Gold Coast New Student Grants’ conditions.

Important Dates: Applications Open: 11 February – 30 June 2025 (subject to early closure if the quota is met).
*Please note that this grant is only available to the first 250 eligible international students. Domestic students, international students already enrolled at an Australian institution, and those currently residing in Australia are not eligible.

Students who have completed their studies in Australia can apply for a Post Study Work Permit or a Temporary Graduate Visa (subclass 485) to continue working in Australia post the completion of their study programs. As an international student, one can apply for the visa but not later than six months after completing your course. But to be eligible, you must meet the Australian Study Requirements, which include a minimum of 16 months of stay in Australia and a completing 92 weeks of a course registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS).
