Program Overview
Business analytics is becoming more critical for organizations as they seek to better understand the current state of affairs and rethink their future trajectories. Organizations need analysts who can aggregate multiple sources of data, interpret big data, and convert the results of business analytics models into decisions that deliver results.
What is Business Analytics?
Business analytics is generally explained as being comprised of three different forms of analysis that can be used separately or together as organizations make decisions:
- Descriptive analytics - seeks to look for patterns and trends within data
- Predictive analytics - seeks to use historical data by extrapolating the past to predict the future
- Prescriptive analytics - seeks to use data to optimize decisions
Using tools and techniques to learn data mining, applied statistics, predictive modeling, data visualization, among others, students will learn to analyze large quantities of data to support the process of decision making in organizational settings.
