Program Overview

International Year One (UTP Stage II)

TMU’s Faculty of Engineering and Architectural Science’s undergraduate programs prepare students to make meaningful contributions to advancements in technology, health, environmental sustainability, design and more. All engineering programs are accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board.

Leading to: Bachelor of Engineering - Mechatronics Engineering

As a mechatronics engineer, you’ll create smart solutions to today’s and tomorrow’s problems for a world that demands technologically advanced devices. You’ll combine your expertise in mechanical, electrical and computer engineering to design, analyze and maintain current and emerging electromechanical systems. As a leader in an in-demand, rapidly growing field, you’ll drive the development and evolution of engineering.

This innovative and unique program is based on a foundation in mathematical and scientific practices and emphasizes laboratory, experiential and design learning. Completion of core courses from mechanical, electrical and computer engineering programs will lead to training in mechatronics engineering design, analysis and solution-based processes. Technical electives will allow for specialization in robotics, automation, digital control systems design, consumer electronics and more. As part of your bachelor of engineering (BEng) degree, you can gain valuable, paid work experience by enrolling in the Mechatronics Engineering Co-operative program or enrolling in the Optional Internship Program.

During your final year Capstone Design project, you’ll collaborate with industry partners to address their existing technical issues and participate in laboratory and design studios.

Note: This is a new program subject to formal approval. Accreditation by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board will be sought at the time of the first graduating class.
