Diploma of Business

Start to build the knowledge and skills necessary for your career in a wide range of areas within the business sector. The diploma provides an introduction to a range of business disciplines prior to choosing the business area in which you will specialise once you move to La Trobe University.

You will study the big issues affecting all businesses globally, trade barriers, sustainability and the environment, as well as begin to gain the skills to design and evaluate innovative solutions for the future.

In this flexible degree, you'll explore all our business disciplines in your first year before choosing from one of ten majors. You'll also have the option to pair your major with complementary study from another discipline through minors and optional second majors.

By completing La Trobe's Bachelor of Business, you will:

gain real-world experience with industry leaders through internships and work placements
fit study around your life with the flexibility to study online, on campus or a mix of both, with four majors available to study online, alongside open access majors and minors
develop a blended fundamentals and technical skillset in leadership, communication, critical thinking, digital literacy, business structures, modern business software, business strategies and more

Marketing provides organisations with the means to communicate their value propositions to their target audience. Through effective marketing practices, organisations can promote the benefits of their offerings (i.e., products and services) to their audience, highlighting the advantages of their offerings as opposed to their competitors. The Marketing major equips you with the knowledge and skills across the areas of overall processes and practices in marketing, integrated marketing communications, consumer behaviour, brand management, marketing research, social marketing, international marketing, and marketing strategy. This dynamic and in-depth portfolio of skills will enable you to identify marketing problems and opportunities and develop actionable solutions for them—skills integrated into the Marketing major. How is it paid?	The grant amount will be deducted from the second semester tuition fees.
Background	International students applying for an undergraduate or postgraduate course to study at La Trobe University can be rewarded a bonus grant for completing their admission process early. Recipients will automatically be eligible to receive an Early Acceptance Grant of $2,000.
Are you eligible to apply?	To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, applicants must: Be a citizen of a country other than Australia or New Zealand and be applying to study in Summer semester 2025/Semester 1 2026. Not be a humanitarian or other permanent visa holder. Be a full fee-paying student (non-sponsored). Be applying for direct entry into one of the eligible courses. Other students are not eligible. Commence their studies at any of the La Trobe University Victorian campuses or Sydney Campus in 2025/6. Meet the University's English language requirements and all the other conditions stated on the Offer Letter, accept the offer, and pay the required deposit mentioned on the offer. Students who receive a Conditional Confirmation of Enrolment (COE) will be considered eligible for the grant. This grant is not available to La Trobe College Australia (LTCA) packaged students (ELICOS, Foundation, and Diploma). All students who accept up until the deadline, including those who have already accepted, will be eligible for this grant.

How to apply

The Early Acceptance Grant can be combined with the La Trobe High Achiever Scholarship to form a discount on first-year tuition fees. This is subject to all conditions being met for both offers.
The Early Acceptance Grant cannot be combined with any other scholarships.

How is it paid?	This scholarship will be applied as a discount to tuition fees for each subject studied for the entire duration of the course. Recipients are required to meet all conditions (if applicable) outlined in the Letter of Offer and accept the offer by paying the required deposit before the scholarship can be applied. Please note: Failure to meet condition(s) and pay the acceptance deposit on time may result in the withdrawal of the scholarship.
Background	La Trobe University values academic excellence. High-achieving international students considering applying for an undergraduate or postgraduate course will be automatically considered for this scholarship.The La Trobe High Achiever Scholarship rewards high achieving International students. This scholarship is worth between 15% to 25% off the annual tuition fees for the duration of studies.
Are you eligible to apply?	To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, applicants must: Be a citizen of a country other than Australia or New Zealand and be applying to start an undergraduate or postgraduate coursework program. How to apply

Applicants will be automatically considered for the scholarship after submitting an application for an Approved course.
Percentage awarded is based on the WAM and overall eligibility of the course. The scholarship will be included in the Letter of Offer.
The scholarship will be reflected on the student's statement of account after the census-date once the student has accepted the offer, paid the required deposit mentioned on the offer letter and enrolled into their course.
*A WAM is an average mark that takes into account the credit point value of the subjects that you have completed. It is based on the actual mark of all subjects completed in your course at any given time.

Work Permit

PGWP

Students who have completed their studies in Australia can apply for a Post Study Work Permit or a Temporary Graduate Visa (subclass 485) to continue working in Australia post the completion of their study programs. As an international student, one can apply for the visa but not later than six months after completing your course. But to be eligible, you must meet the Australian Study Requirements, which include a minimum of 16 months of stay in Australia and a completing 92 weeks of a course registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS).
