Towson University Scholarship Details
Graduate students who are admitted to Towson University for Fall 2025 will be awarded a $1,000 USD scholarship offer and must confirm their place by 13 June 2025.
• No additional application required.
• Open to graduate students except for those enrolling in the Applied Information Technology MS programme.
• Available for Year 1 only; applied as a credit to the student’s account: $500 USD for Fall 2025 and $500 USD for Spring 2026.
• May not be combined with any other scholarships or discounts for Year 1 (students may apply for other TU-based funding for Year 2).
• If a student is awarded a scholarship for Fall 2025 but receives a visa denial and decides to defer to Spring 2026, TU will honor the scholarship award for one deferral only.
Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.
A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):
