Program Overview

This program offers opportunities for students to learn about early childhood education from birth to age eight and participate in early childhood care and classroom management. Our graduates are prepared to work in urban, diverse, and inclusive settings and serve children and their families as soon as they graduate. As a student in this program, you will receive guidance from people already working in the field and acquire the skills you need to pursue an education career.

In this program, you will:

Develop a deep understanding of child development theories, pedagogical approaches, and evidence-based practices that support the learning and development of young children in inclusive settings
Acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to create inclusive and culturally responsive learning environments, fostering the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth of all children, including those with diverse abilities and backgrounds
Cultivate effective communication, collaboration, and advocacy skills, enabling you to engage with families, colleagues, and community partners to promote the well-being of children and advocate for equitable and inclusive early education policies and practices

If students are arriving before the move in date, they need to make their own accommodation arrangements.

Students cannot enter the U.S. more than 30 days before their I-20 Program Start Date. They could be turned away at the border or future benefits may be denied.

Work Permit

PGWP

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.

It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.

A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):

Pre-Completion OPT: This is temporary employment provided to F-1 students before completion of their course of study.
Post-Completion OPT: This is temporary employment available to F-1 students after completing their course of study.
24 Month STEM Extension: Students enrolled in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) courses can a 24-month extension after their initial Post-Completion OPT authorization.
