You will study six core courses in the Creative Industries, including courses in business practice and entrepreneurship relevant to the Creative Industries sector. You will select your primary Industry Major and a second Major.

Major: Games Design and Production

This major or minor will provide students the opportunity to develop expertise in the processes and practices of the game industry. Students undertaking this course of study will have skills and experience across four areas:

  • Storytelling for games across a range of platforms and formats,
  • User Experience and User Interface Design for games.
  • Project management for games development.

The first year of study provides students with a general introduction to the industry and the role of the game designer. Students will learn key game design theory and frameworks and will begin to apply these to the creation of their own games. In the second year of study students will explore 3D engines and the tools and techniques of storytelling in game and narrative design. Throughout the first and second year of the major, students will be given opportunities to develop their skills in 3D art.

In their final year of study, students completing the Games Design and Production major will explore the role of a game producer, developing their skills in project management for game design.
