Foundation Studies Program

The Eynesbury College Foundation Studies Program (FSP) is an intensive program, preparing international students for entry into their first year of undergraduate study at the University of Adelaide or an Eynesbury Diploma.


Program Structure

Required modules: Students will study 3 core modules, as well as 3 elective modules in their area of study interest. Students will be graded on a score out of 500 which is used for entry to the University of South Australia

As a student studying the Cultural Studies major you will explore the complex and diverse economic, cultural, social, historical and political legacies that influence modern-day society.

You will:

  • Develop a sophisticated body of knowledge regarding cultures and their contexts
  • Undertake cultural analysis including weighing evidence, explaining varying perspectives and communicating effectively
  • Research and analyse real world problems
  • Explore contemporary cultural contexts including computer games, music and popular culture.

You will also graduate with writing, presentation, digital, communication, research and problem-solving skills that can be transferable across a range of roles and are highly regarded by prospective employers. If you finish your degree with a credit or higher-grade point average (GPA) you could also be eligible for the one-year Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree.


What you'll learn

The Cultural Studies major will explore the complex and diverse cultural, social, economic, historical and political legacies and relations of power that influence our everyday lives and the ways we make meaning through our engagement with various texts, objects, routines and practices.

You will:

  • Develop a sophisticated body of knowledge regarding cultures and their contexts
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of how we represent ourselves through various forms of popular culture (film, TV, literature, social media) and what the effects of such representation are
  • Research and analyse real world problems
  • Explore contemporary cultural contexts including computer games, music and popular culture
  • Research and analyse real-world problems.
