Master of Business in Business Law

Program Overview

The Master of Business is a program designed for professionals aspiring to make the move to management roles, for current managers seeking formal qualifications and for those looking to move careers. This degree is designed to help you master essential business concepts and provide you with the frameworks and creative problem solving skills to enable you to operate effectively in the dynamic, global business economy.

This program will help you to further develop your business and management skills, build specialist knowledge within your chosen area, and accelerate your career.

Major: Business Law

Over a decade ago, the landmark Karpin Report, Enterprising Nation, listed commercial law as one of the major needs of management education in Australia. Rather than focusing heavily on legal content, which will rapidly become outdated, this course uses the context of contracting and adopts Karpin's critical thinking approach, through which students learn to critically analyse, and evaluate the role of law from both a strategic perspective in which law helps to achieve organisational goals and objectives as well as from a risk management perspective of avoiding legal liability which can threaten the very life of the organisation. All students are expected to begin studies at the first designated lecture for each course of their program. Students who cannot attend must gain written approval from the MBA Director to continue in that trimester. Enrolment in this course is restricted to MBA students only. Students enrolled in other graduate degrees who meet the entry requirements of the MBA program may be admitted with the approval by the MBA Director.
