From economics to financial management, the areas within commerce influence every industry. As you build your understanding of the foundational concepts of commerce, you’ll develop the ability to recognise financial patterns, trends in financial markets and the drivers of economic growth. With the option to specialise your studies in the area of your passion, you can graduate with confidence in your ability to apply your knowledge and skills to multiple industry contexts.
In the Bachelor of Commerce, you’ll study core subjects that will build your foundational knowledge of the concepts relevant to all areas of commerce. This commerce degree has several majors to choose from, with the option to select either a second major or elective subjects. Your selected major/s allow you to specialise in the areas that you want to pursue in your future career while electives allow you to broaden your knowledge and skills base.
No matter which major you choose, your studies in the Bachelor of Commerce will equip you to critically evaluate and communicate market insights. You’ll learn the importance of making data-driven decisions and develop skills in interpreting quantitative and qualitative data. The JCU International Excellence Scholarship provides a 25% tuition fee reduction throughout the entire duration of approved full degree study programs, provided recipients maintain a strong GPA each semester.
Scholarship eligibility is automatically assessed during the JCU admissions process. Eligible candidates will receive an offer for their program of study and the International Excellence Scholarship concurrently.

International Merit Stipend
The JCU International Merit Stipend provides fortnightly payments of A$400 to assist with expenses throughout the duration of study at JCU, providing a strong GPA is maintained.
Scholarship eligibility is automatically assessed during the admissions process. Eligible candidates will receive an offer for their program of study and the International Merit Stipend concurrently.

JCU Vice Chancellor's International Student Scholarship
The JCU Vice-Chancellor’s International Student Scholarships provide up to a 100% fee waiver per year for the minimum course duration.
Application for this scholarship is by invitation only, to international students enrolling in eligible programs, with a weighted average mark (WAM) of 85% or higher, and whose offer of a course is not conditional upon the student satisfying JCU's English entry requirements.

Administration of the Scholarship
The Scholarship shall be administered by the International Student Support Office, on behalf of the Vice Chancellor.
The funds of the Scholarship shall be held in an account in the name of the University and shall be administered by the Officer of the University charged with administering the Scholarship.
Where an award provides some benefit to the recipient from a body external to the University, or an obligation upon a body external to the University, the University, its servants, and agents, shall not be liable for that benefit or obligation.

Australia Awards Scholarships
Australia Awards Scholarships are long-term awards administered by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade that aim to contribute to the development needs of Australia's partner countries in line with bilateral and regional agreements.
The Scholarships provide opportunities for people from developing countries, particularly those countries located in the Indo-Pacific region, to undertake full time undergraduate or postgraduate study at participating Australian institutions. Since 1997, James Cook University has provided quality academic and personal support to over many hundreds of Australia Awards Scholarship students from more than 40 countries.
Australia Awards Scholarships are offered for the minimum period necessary for the individual to complete the academic program specified by the Australian higher education institution, including any preparatory training and generally cover tuition fees, air travel, and allowances to cover accommodation expenses, text books, study materials and basic living expenses.

Students who have completed their studies in Australia can apply for a Post Study Work Permit or a Temporary Graduate Visa (subclass 485) to continue working in Australia post the completion of their study programs. As an international student, one can apply for the visa but not later than six months after completing your course. But to be eligible, you must meet the Australian Study Requirements, which include a minimum of 16 months of stay in Australia and a completing 92 weeks of a course registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS).
