Bachelor of Arts in Arts Education, with Concentration in Literature Education

Program Overview

The Arts Education Program is designed to prepare teachers of Arts Education for K-12 schools and alternate educational settings. Students are required to take a core of interdisciplinary Arts Education courses as well as courses in Dance, Drama, Literature, Music, Visual Arts, and Creative Technologies In addition, students will select an arts area of concentration as part of their program. Field experiences in K-12 Schools occur in each year of the program.

Literature Education - Concentration
Literature students in the Arts Education Program can choose to concentrate on elementary school teaching or secondary school teaching in Literature. Elementary Literature students learn to teach young children to read, write and enjoy picture books and other literature suitable for Grades K-6. Secondary Literature majors and minors learn to teach Literature (including literature for young adults) and Creative Writing.
