Program Overview

Program focus is to foster intensive examination of particular topics from a variety of approaches including gender history, transnational and comparative history, economic history, political history, cultural history and social history.

Long known for its strength in Canadian history, other areas of expertise include British, Caribbean, European, Latin American and U.S. history, the history of Africa and the African diaspora and the history of the Ancient World.

Dig into the past in the collaborative PhD program offered in conjunction with the University of Toronto in Ancient Greek and Roman History.

Comparative studies are encouraged, made possible through flexible study options, small class sizes and precise attention to the scholarly promise of each student.
