Master of Science in Health Care Administration

Program Overview

The Master's of Science in Health Care Administration program is designed to prepare health care professionals for leadership and management positions in organizations that serve diverse individual and community needs. The program is driven by a curriculum that applies technology, evidence based decision-making, and critical thinking skills to the delivery, configuration, and management of health care services. Graduates of the MS program will pursue careers in the private sector, government agencies, health care institutions, public health interest groups, academia, nonprofit organizations, and professional societies.

The MS in Health Care Administration consists of 42 credits. Students are required to complete 33 credits of core courses, an integrative capstone experience, and 2 elective courses chosen from among health care and other academic disciplines and tailored to the student’s learning goals.

Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will be able to:

  • Apply  leadership, management, and communication competencies in managing the daily operations of health care organizations.
  • Integrate knowledge of economic and financial principles to monitor, analyze, and interpret healthcare financial and economic data for decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Translate the knowledge of the U.S. health care delivery system, health care reimbursement, health policy, governance, and ethical considerations to strategic planning at the organizational level.
  • Design strategies to create a culture of continuous process improvement using data that aligns with the organizations vision, goals, and culture.  
  • Use quantitative and qualitative methods to measure the outcomes formulated to evaluate and refine initiatives to improve health care systems.
  • Create policies and processes that align with best practices from ethical, legal, regulatory, and professional values perspectives.
