Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies, Concentration in Psychology

Program Overview

Learn more about God's gift of creation and how to protect it for generations to come. King's Environmental Studies (ENVS) B.A. and B.Sc. programs prepare students to address sustainability issues with a broad knowledge of its ecological, social, and economic dimensions. In addition to course work, internships and field trips provide practical, hands-on skills and experiences. The program introduces students to principles and practices for building environmentally sustainable societies and lifestyles by examining the causes of environmental harm, and exploring theories, policies, techniques, and management approaches that support the restoration and flourishing of our planet.

Through King’s ENVS programs, students develop skills such as mapping, geographical information systems (GIS), environmental impact assessment, policy analysis, statistical analysis, and strong oral and written communication. Both Environmental Studies programs are fully accredited by Eco Canada and equip graduates for future employment in this fast growing and dynamic sector.

Psychology
Psychology studies what motivates people to do the things they do and how society affects human thought, learning and action. Students learn to critically engage assumptions about human nature and understand how these assumptions are important in our modern world and in the light of Christian faith.

Explore cognition and the activities of the mind and examine how physical disorders in the structural and chemical makeup of the brain can lead to behavioural and mental illness challenges. This degree is an excellent choice for those who want to enter professional programs such as law and education.

Program Highlights

  • Choose a program that prepares you for one of the fastest growing employment sectors in Canada.
  • Participate in a 13-week internship and apply coursework to real life situations as you prepare for future careers.
  • Explore solutions to world-wide environmental challenges through social, ecological, economic, and spiritual avenues. Consider how social justice and environmental health are connected.
  • Choose to study the environment from a natural science or arts and humanities perspective. Specialize in an area of environmental studies that you find most interesting.
  • Think critically about how civilization impacts the environment and how humans can develop more restorative ways of living on the planet.
