Bachelor of Arts in Digital Media and Creative Arts

Program Overview

Digital Media and Creative Arts explores the relationship between digital media, the arts, and society. It involves the examination of digital media and the creation of digital arts.

DIGITAL MEDIA AND CREATIVE ARTS AT STU
Our Digital Media and Creative Arts program is interdisciplinary in nature and draws on courses from Communications and Public Policy, Journalism Criminology, English, Sociology, Fine Arts, Human Rights, and Native Studies. This allows for a broader range of study and the inclusion of a wide variety of courses on topics like digital literature, podcasting, digital painting and sculpting, and acting for digital media.

“This program will give you the opportunity to write, tell stories, make videos and podcasts, take photographs, and expand your knowledge by taking full advantage of the depth and breadth of course offerings at St. Thomas.” – Professor Philip Lee, Faculty Advisor for Digital Media and Creative Arts

WHAT SETS STU'S DIGITAL MEDIA AND CREATIVE ARTS PROGRAM APART?

  • Small, engaging classes that emphasize personal interaction, discussion, and debate.
  • Lectures and seminars are always taught by professors—not teaching assistants—which means students learn from experts in the field.
  • You will be able to create your own content and familiarize yourself with video, audio, and editing equipment in the Digital Centre on campus.
  • Our program combines theoretical knowledge from multiple disciplines with hands-on learning to ensure you are gaining skills in digital literacy and earning professional experience.
  • Students benefit from faculty expertise in Journalism, Communications and Public Policy, English, Sociology, Fine Arts, Criminology, Human Rights, and Native Studies.
