Master of Mathematical Sciences in Financial Mathematics

Program Overview

Utilise sophisticated mathematical and statistical modeling to solve real-world problems and gain an edge over your competition with the Master of Mathematical Sciences (Financial Mathematics) at UOW. You will develop the practical skills necessary to be a leader in the formulation, implementation and evaluation of the models used to structure transactions, manage risk and construct investment strategies.

This Degree
The Master of Mathematical Sciences (Financial Mathematics) will equip you with a range of analytic, modeling, statistical and computational skills that can be applied directly to the financial sector, as well as the broader business landscape.

What you will study
In your first year, you will study core preparation and foundational subjects in areas such as multivariate and vectoir calculus, differential equations, statistical inference and model building, and managerial finance. From your second year, you will also study advanced topics and investigations in these areas, as well as having the opportunity to complete cross-disciplinary subjects in other fields where mathematics and statistics are critical, such as engineering, health, and computer science. You will also complete a research or coursework-focused capstone subject.
