Human nutrition is the branch of science devoted to the study of food and nutrients. It examines the effect that food and nutrients have on our physical, social, mental and environmental wellbeing. At the University of Canberra our emphasis is on the role of nutrition in the maintenance of health and wellbeing in different societies. Specialist Major in Nutritional Science
The Specialist Major in Nutritional Science builds on units in the Core Major in Nutrition Foundations (CM0021). It completes required studies in chemistry and physiology and covers fundamental nutrition units. This core is essential for any student pursuing a career as a nutritionist or dietitian. Students completing the Core Major in Nutrition Foundations (CM0021) and the Specialist Major in Nutritional Science (SM0042) will cover the basic prerequisites for the Master of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Students who have completed their studies in Australia can apply for a Post Study Work Permit or a Temporary Graduate Visa (subclass 485) to continue working in Australia post the completion of their study programs. As an international student, one can apply for the visa but not later than six months after completing your course. But to be eligible, you must meet the Australian Study Requirements, which include a minimum of 16 months of stay in Australia and a completing 92 weeks of a course registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS).
