Information Technology experts create or manage computer-based applications, systems and networks. Build your knowledge across underlying sciences, IT, engineering and mathematical methodologies when you study a Bachelor of Information Technology at UOW.
You will study the fundamentals of computer science and IT: programming, problem-solving, network and communications, web technology, data management, system analysis, human-computer interaction, and project management.
The Bachelor of Information Technology provides foundation knowledge of organisational areas in IT, from: database management, programming, information systems analysis and design, communications and networks, security, project management, web-based technology, and professional practice in IT.
Major: Network Design and Management
Develop the skills necessary to build or manage networks, supporting and equipping organisations. Network designers enable governments and businesses to share data and applications to achieve greater strategic advantage through, for example, the use of social media and cloud computing. IT networks provide the latest information and a place of digital connection for people. By studying network design and management you will develop the skills necessary to build or manage networks to support businesses and governments in a competitive global market.
In this major you will complete a final-year capstone team project. You can also choose to study a double degree with law, or business administration, providing broad experience of technology using various industry products such as Microsoft, Apple, Oracle, SAP and Cisco.

International Student Scholarships

At UOW we offer a range of scholarships for students looking to undertake undergraduate or postgraduate study. We can also assist with information about scholarships offered by the Australian Government, as well as international organisations.
Students who have completed their studies in Australia can apply for a Post Study Work Permit or a Temporary Graduate Visa (subclass 485) to continue working in Australia post the completion of their study programs. As an international student, one can apply for the visa but not later than six months after completing your course. But to be eligible, you must meet the Australian Study Requirements, which include a minimum of 16 months of stay in Australia and a completing 92 weeks of a course registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS).
