If you enjoy being constantly challenged and extended by your studies and are thinking about a career involving Science research, then the Bachelor of Advanced Science degree allows exposure to research in an undergraduate degree. Inquiry based research is introduced for all science students in first year, however in second year, Advanced Science students interact with world renowned researchers to provide extensive and individual training to develop leadership and/or research skills. This involves completing advanced science subjects only available to Advanced Science students, which focus on research methodology and developing skills pertinent for a future works in science project management. On completing a science major, the degree also allows for completion of an additional minor or 4 free electives, so students can design their own learning journey.

A major in Innovative Foods will prepare you to be a leader in developing innovative, safe, healthy and sustainable foods. A solid foundation in the biological and chemical sciences, needed to underpin food science, will enable
graduates from this program to be confident in the rapidly evolving food technology sector. The topics covered in this major includes, food formulation, quality evaluation, food analysis, quality assurance, sensory analysis, food chemistry, food microbiology, food plant management, flavour chemistry and consumer relations.
The program is flexible and enables you to undertake units in human nutrition, health, biotechnology, marketing,
integrated management with industry and community links, with modern sensory and food processing facilities.

We offer one of Australia's most generous scholarship programs supporting international students, particularly those from developing countries, to pursue overseas study. All applicants for our coursework programs are automatically considered. Successful scholarship recipients will receive notification of their awards in their Offer of Admission letter.

Important changes to Western Sydney University’s International Student Scholarship Program, effective from Monday, 7 October 2024, for the 2025 academic year and beyond. After careful review, the eligibility criteria for the $6,000 multiyear scholarships have been updated.
Postgraduate: The list of postgraduate programs for the guaranteed $6,000 multiyear scholarships have changed. Three postgraduate programs will no longer be eligible for the guaranteed $6,000 multiyear scholarships:
Instead from the 2025 academic year onwards, $3,000 and $6,000 multiyear scholarships for these programs will be awarded based on academic merit.
Undergraduate: Additionally, the University has decided to discontinue the $6,000 multiyear scholarship for the Bachelor of Nursing (4691) from the 2025 academic year onwards. Eligible students will only be able to receive $3,000 multiyear scholarships for these programs based on academic merit.
Students who have received offers for 2025 are being given the opportunity to accept both their academic program and current scholarship offer by Friday, 4 October 2024. The University will honour their current scholarship offer if accepted by this date. However, if students accept after this date, the scholarship offer will no longer be valid, and a revised offer, which may not include the scholarship, will be issued.
Students who have completed their studies in Australia can apply for a Post Study Work Permit or a Temporary Graduate Visa (subclass 485) to continue working in Australia post the completion of their study programs. As an international student, one can apply for the visa but not later than six months after completing your course. But to be eligible, you must meet the Australian Study Requirements, which include a minimum of 16 months of stay in Australia and a completing 92 weeks of a course registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS).
