Study life at the molecular level. As a biochemistry major, you will explore the chemical processes of living things. You will blend chemistry and biology as you build interdisciplinary scientific skills. By examining cell development, growth, and heredity, you can help improve pharmaceutical, diagnostic, agricultural and environmental products and processes.
Why This Program & What You'll Learn
If you're interested in biological processes — cell development, growth and heredity — then join one of our labs and get started with a major in biochemistry.
Our biochemistry major offers you a deep understanding of the impact of chemical science on modern society, with opportunities to expand into other related sciences. Plus, with research training, you'll gain essential skills and useful knowledge that can help to improve upon the quality of human life. All biochemistry majors complete a thesis-based capstone, giving you research skills employers and graduate schools value.
Biochemistry is an ideal major if you want a career in biotechnology, health professions, pharmaceutical industries and forensics, as well as in the traditional yet exciting fields of chemistry and biology.
