The combination of actuarial science and law lays the groundwork for a future-focussed career in the world of big data and analytics. Not only will you have the skills to analyse the data, but you will also have an in-depth understanding of the legal context and guidelines in which these numbers can be used. You could end up being an actuary who specialises in the legalities of using personal information or a lawyer with expertise in risk evaluation.
The actuarial science element of the program covers economics, finance, statistics, data analytics and advanced mathematics, as they relate to the management of risk and business decision-making. You will learn how to crunch the big data numbers to create practical solutions for real-world problems. Students who have completed their studies in Australia can apply for a Post Study Work Permit or a Temporary Graduate Visa (subclass 485) to continue working in Australia post the completion of their study programs.
