Program Overview
Biology can be studied at the level of molecules, cells, organisms and populations. Students in the Biology Program can learn about a wide range of organisms, from microbes to humans, and a wide range of topics, including ecology, evolutionary biology, and plant and animal physiology. With a broad range module, you can take a few courses in many subjects, or narrow in to one or two.
Geology studies the processes that shape the Earth’s surface features, interior structure and composition. At Western, multidisciplinary skills are developed in the field and the laboratory, as well as through theory and computation. This broad approach will give you the skills to meet emerging challenges in the responsible development of mineral, energy and water resources, addressing climate change, mitigating natural hazards like earthquakes, volcanoes and meteorite impacts, and understanding deep time, the evolution of life and mass extinctions.
