Gain a broad set of foundational Christian counseling skills and knowledge along with field-specialized topic courses and skill areas. Liberty University’s Master of Arts in Pastoral Counseling is designed to train ministry professionals and church leaders to become Christian counselors in ministry and agency-based, non-licensure settings.
Be prepared to serve in non-clinical counseling opportunities through church or other ministry settings. Here, you’ll also get a strong understanding of biblical counseling principles and strategies that will help you meet the needs of others.
With our degree, you will have the opportunity to pursue hands-on training on campus during two optional intensives (PACO 509 & 617). In addition to this training, you will gain experience in your community through a pastoral counseling internship. The semester-long Pastoral Counseling Internship course (PACO 699) caps the M.A. Pastoral Counseling degree offering supervised pastoral counseling experience in an approved setting. Work is monitored by a university faculty member through small assignments.
