Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Physiotherapy

Program Overview

Physiotherapy is a healthcare profession which sees human movement as central to the health and wellbeing of individuals of all ages. Physiotherapists help to identify and maximise movement potential through promotion of a healthy lifestyle, preventive healthcare, and specialist assessment, treatment and rehabilitation.

The innovative new physiotherapy course is fit for the modern, entrepreneurial physiotherapist – encompassing the core areas of cardiorespiratory, musculoskeletal, neuroscience and physiotherapeutic skills as well as more specialist topics. Our course has excellent links with professionals working in a wide variety of clinical settings, including the NHS, private practice, independent and charitable providers.

Delivered in small classes in the Health and Wellbeing Building, you will have access to two physiotherapy practical labs, ward-based teaching labs, simulation suites and an onsite physiotherapy clinic run by a local physiotherapy provider.

During both university-based teaching and practice placements you will have the opportunity to work and study collaboratively with other health and social care students. Our course has a strong focus on professional and lifelong learning skills, evidence informed physiotherapy practice and research skills.

There are approximately 31 weeks of placement throughout the course, with placement experiences in year 1, 2 and 3 to ensure you get the 1,000 clinical practice hours you need to qualify.
