Program Overview

If you enjoy baking, have an artistic knack, are interested in creating tasty, wonderful breads, cakes, pastries, as well as, cake decorating and other delights, this one-year Baking Certificate program will train you in the traditional and contemporary baking methods.  A career in baking and pastry arts will give you an opportunity to use your imagination in the hands-on experience to create and produce as well as give you the chance to work with exact measurements and science.

The program offers hands-on training, a personalized approach, small classes, state of the art labs and retail experience.

The program covers yeast goods, artisan breads, pastries, sugar artistry, chocolate, special occasion cakes, flans, tortes and much more.  You will also learn important management skills about food regulations, customer service, costing, pricing, merchandising and starting your own business.

Students will prepare to write the first, second and third period apprenticeship exams.

This program is offered at our Food Sciences Centre, St. Paul Campus.
