Program Overview
Our Social Work Degree Apprenticeship has been designed in partnership with social work employers, service users and carers to enable you to develop competency and capability in frontline social work.
The course supports you to apply your social work learning directly in the workplace throughout, enhancing your career and leading to great opportunities on qualification. This is a generic award and your studies will equip you to work in a wide range of settings including - but not limited to - children and families, adult services, mental health, disability and offender services.
All modules are designed with this aim and in year one you will prepare for social work practice, develop your communication skills, study human growth and development, learn about law and safeguarding, work alongside service users and carers, and focus on social justice in practice.
In Years 2 and 3 we support you to apply theory, methods and research and you will access a placement opportunity. Specially designed modules will develop your knowledge of working with children, young people and families; help you to explore social perspectives on mental health; and focus on personalisation and citizenship, empowering adult service users. You will learn about research for specialist professional practice and psychosocial studies before undertaking an End Point Assessment.
