Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Music Theatre

Program Overview

Singing and stagecraft. Composition and choreography. Major productions and public performances. Our BA (Hons) Music Theatre course offers it all, laying a solid foundation for a future in the performing arts.

If you’re looking ahead to a career of on-stage performance and back-stage creativity, this course offers a well-rounded programme that explores every aspect of music theatre. It’s a practical course that lets you get to grips with the whole process of devising, staging and performing a production, as well as developing academic skills in investigation and research.

With extensive personal support from experienced practitioners, you’ll hone your vocal and physical skills – ensuring you can understand, interpret and make the most of the text. You’ll cover a wide range of areas, including topics like musical composition and contextual study, but everything is built around common threads, ensuring the whole course offers a holistic view of the discipline.

Each year, you’ll have the chance to perform in a full-scale production and, in your second and third year, create a major devised piece. You’ll also work on projects in the community, put on public performances and could even go abroad to perform. So, by the time you graduate, you should leave us with the key performance and creative skills that can offer a solid foundation for a range of careers within Music Theatre and the Performing Arts.
