This course is ideal for you if you are interested in becoming a criminal psychologist or working within the criminal justice system. The cross-disciplinary approach enables you to look at criminal behaviour under a psychological lens to understand the motivations and consequences of crime and its perpetrators, as well as preventative measures.
You will take 80 credits of psychology modules as well as 40 credits of criminology modules. You will start to look at the core areas of Psychology and experience psychological research first hand. We will also introduce you to the criminal justice system and explore the patterns of crime and criminal behaviour and its impact on society.
Perspectives in Criminology: Developmental Criminology
Focuses on identifying risk/protective factors and why people commit crime (developmental, biological, psychological social) and considers means of intervention to prevent reoffending.

Careers
Through studying psychology with criminology, you will develop a range of transferable skills that are highly sought-after by employers. These include analytical and communication skills, problem solving and report-writing skills and the ability to apply key concepts.
Some graduates successfully complete professional training or postgraduate study, others establish careers in social work, the police, criminal justice agencies, as well as protection and victim support services. Other professional careers, such as marketing, journalism and human resources would benefit from the transferable skills you acquire during your psychology with criminology degree.

We invite guest speakers from a range of professions, such as the various branches of psychology, youth service and the police to come to talk to our students and offer them the opportunity to learn not only about ‘hands on’ practical concerns but also about potential careers.
There are various options through which a student can get a post study work visa in the UK.
Tier 1 Graduate Entrepreneur Visa for the graduates with a genuine and credible business idea.
Tier 2 (General) is the leading immigration visa to work in the UK.
Tier 4 Doctorate Extension Scheme is for students who have completed their Ph.D. and is valid for 12 months for them to work, look for work or set up a business.
Tier 5 Youth Mobility is for individuals of certain countries like Australia, Canada, Japan, Monaco, Hong Kong, South Korea, Taiwan, and New Zealand aged between 18 -30 who wish to move to the UK.
