Attestation of Collegial Studies (ACS) in Sustainable Architecture

Program Overview

Sustainable architecture focuses on minimizing a building’s impact on the surrounding environment. Eco-friendly design impacts every aspect of the construction process, including:

  • Selecting renewable, non-toxic building materials
  • Maximizing energy efficiency (using water recycling, solar panels, efficient electrical and HVAC systems, etc.)
  • Ensuring local ecosystems aren’t disrupted by the structure
  • Sustainable landscaping (using native plants, rainwater recycling, maximizing available natural resources, and limiting waste)

There has been a large increase in the number of eco-friendly building projects in Canada. Many architecture and construction firms have begun to specialize in eco-friendly design for residential, commercial, and institutional projects.

Herzing College Sustainable Architecture Training Program
Herzing’s Sustainable Architecture training program teaches the principles of green building design, renewable energy, and eco-friendly construction technologies. Students graduate with a strong foundation in AutoCAD, Canadian building codes, architectural drafting, and 13 weeks of real work experience.
