The Bachelor of Arts degree in Chicana/o Studies is designed to meet the needs of the students preparing for careers serving Chicana/o- Latina/o constituencies, carrer such as public and business administration, marketing, public relations, education, politics, government and minority affairs as well as careers in which the graduate woild work in an international or multicultural environment. The degree is also designed to prepare students for graduate and advanced professional study in programs in which a knowledge of the history, language, and culture of this growing demographic would be an asset.
Our interdisciplinary program is dedicated to the study of the Mexican and Latin American origin population in the United States, their history, culture, and contemporary social issues. We prepare students for professional careers and graduate study, which advances their personal goals and the well-being of the entire Latino/a community, through a curriculum grounded in transborder studies, experiential knowledge, community engagement, and international perspectives.

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.
A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):
