Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems

Program Overview

At Wilkes, you’ll work one-on-one with your professors, with small class sizes and mentoring that will ensure your success in the program. Hands-on, experiential learning with the focus on systems design, analysis and computer programming will prepare you to think strategically, solve problems and communicate solutions effectively.

Research is the cornerstone to a Wilkes education, and you’ll have the opportunity to explore research as early as your freshman year. You’ll also have access to WARLOC, the only supercomputer in the region. Funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation, Wilkes University’s supercomputer is accessible to all students and is housed in the Mark Engineering Center.

What Will You Learn as a Computer Information Systems Major?

  • You'll get an introduction to computers and computing, including personal computing in both the Windows and OS X operating systems.
  • You'll learn the basics of information technology, programming and an introduction to computer graphics.
  • You'll be taught today's most in-demand programming languages.
  • Your courses will include computer networks, object-oriented programming, artificial intelligence, three-dimensional environments, animation, game development, web development and more.
